International Festival of University Music

 

Each year for 24 years, during the weekend of the Whitsun, the city of Belfort and the students of the  area organize the International Festival of University Music, more known under the name of FIMU.

During the three days of the FIMU there is about 2 700 musicians and amateur chorus-singers. They are representatives of their school or friends' band, " fan of music" who meet in the festival for their pleasure, by conveying the spirit of party and independence appropriate for the student world.

  • 130 groups and orchestras of universities and of music academies coming from 30 countries were selected for the edition 2010.
    The FIMU is the opportunity to have a meeting between the groupd and the audience which is always more numerous.
    There were an estimated 80.000 visitors for the year 2010.
  • 14 Stages indoor or outdoor, located in the Old town of Belfort which is used as privileged surroundings to the festival under the kindly eye of the Lion of Belfort.

  • Free access to all the concerts of the festival.
    Thus, a family, music-loving or curious public, is able to discover and to appreciate a music program "à la carte" in the user-friendliness.
  • International and diversified, the Festival is opened to any French or foreign music group mainly made up of students or pupils of music academies and music schools, as well as to musical groups practising the music in amateurs.
    The Festival welcomes all the musical genres: classical music, new musics, jazz, rock music, music of the world, the brass bands, opera...
